On bear poking

Poke the Bear is a newsletter covering everything from German-language war films to senility checks for politicians and why you can now drink tasty craft beer. The aim is not solely to antagonise people, but – as the old maxim goes – it’s hardly worth writing something if nobody gets upset.

My background is in trade journalism, covering defence procurement (arms dealing), supermarkets, local government pensions and other oddities. I’m currently a freelance hack and also do work for a medical cannabis trade association.
